Chastain Film Capital is currently in development on the following feature films:

MARATHON WOMAN

Photo Credit: Boston Herald | Photos By: Harry Trask

In 1967, Kathrine Switzer was the first woman to officially enter and run the Boston Marathon. During the race, Ms. Switzer was physically attacked by one of the organizers attempting to forcibly remove her from the marathon. Ms. Switzer fought through and finished the race. The photo of the incident became one of Time-Life’s “100 Photos That Changed the World.”

Described as a “female Rocky” tonally, Marathon Woman is a real-life, universal story about an underdog overcoming adversity and discrimination through persistence, skill, and strength of character; it’s about fighting to achieve gender-equality, personal empowerment and self-discovery. Ms. Switzer has run 42 marathons, won the New York City Marathon and successfully led the drive to get the women’s marathon into the Olympics. She is the founder of the 261 Fearless nonprofit, an Emmy Award-winning TV commentator and living proof that running is transformational. In 2017, at age 70, Ms. Switzer ran the Boston Marathon again on the 50th anniversary of her first historic run. She was recently inducted into the USA National Women’s Hall of Fame for creating positive social change.

Additionally Chastain Film Capital is developing two features based on recent articles from The Washington Post, each of which were written by The Washington Post’s national arts reporter, Geoff Edgers. Mr. Edgers remains involved as a creative consultant on both films.

VIOLIN THIEF

“VIOLIN THIEF”, is rooted in a mystery that began on the night of May 13th, 1980 at a Mozart recital at the Longy School of Music of Bard College in Cambridge, Massachusetts near the edge of Harvard Square. Based on a true story, the feature details The Washington Post’s Geoff Edger’s journey to unmask the past, and the character of the once promising violinist, who upon his death was finally exposed as the thief of world-renowned virtuoso violinist Roman Totenberg’s “Ames” Stradivarius. Screenplay by Captain Mauzner (Wonderland, Factory Girl, Billionaire Boys Club)

BILL ARNETT WONT SHUT UP

Photo Credit: Derek Blanks for The Washington Post

“BILL ARNETT WON’T SHUT UP. HIS STUNNING AFRICAN AMERICAN ART COLLECTION IS WHY”, is a profile of the brilliant and controversial Arnett, Founder and Chairman Emeritus of the Souls Grown Deep Foundation. Arnett, known for introducing the world to the art of, among many others, Thornton Dial and the quilters of Gee’s Bend, Alabama, is a self-professed corrector of the record regarding art history and his efforts have placed works in The Smithsonian, The Museum of Modern Art and The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Facing firm opposition from the art establishment, and still living today with the fallout from a now widely discredited 1993 60 Minutes piece, Arnett’s sole purpose for decades has been to proclaim the paramount importance and influence of African American Vernacular Art from the Deep South, no matter whom he offends. Screenplay by Jamison Rotch.

All Chastain properties are being produced by Chastain’s Principal Ed Richardson through his production company, R&R PRODUCTIONS WORLDWIDE.
